Less is more

Listen: More by Flying Lotus ft. Anderson Paak

Flying Lotus and Anderson .Paak have been teasing a collaboration forever, and now it’s here. A perfect amalgamation of their two styles, “More” feels like holding hands: the opening minute of swirling jazz-funk gives way to a percussive flow, and the rest of the song is the two elements melding. As a bonus, it comes with a video, out yesterday, an animated sci-fi where .Paak is a fly robot and FlyLo starts out as a man but sprouts into a tree made of human organs. Just as dreamlike as the song itself. Watch here.

Slacking, for real

In the six years since its launch, Slack has been taking over offices with its chat boxes, gif shortcuts, and file-sharing capabilities. And now, the world’s cutest productivity software product is about to IPO. But, whoops, turns out Slack actually makes workers less productive. This won’t come as a surprise to anyone who uses it– any time you save by instant-messaging your coworker in Stockholm is easily eclipsed by the meme wars and incessant chatter that happens the rest of the day. But look, we’re getting all this communication done without actually talking face to face, so something has to be working, right?

In other IPO news

Uber, which has always promised to eliminate traffic through the magic of ride shares, went public over the weekend. The offering is thus far going badly, which we might have seen coming after the Lyft IPO flop in March. Remember when we learned that both companies actually put more cars on the road cause that’s the only way they can make money? Could have been a sign.

The more you buy, the better it is for the environment. Duh.
