Summer of lust

Listen: F.U.C.K. by Victoria Monet

Victoria Monet’s F.U.C.K. stands for “Friend U Can Keep,” but don’t worry, it’s still about sex. In her drippy R&B single, Monét advocates for friends who come with benefits instead of strings: “if you’re never in a relationship, you technically can never break up,” she figures. True enough. Put this one in the running for song of the summer. It’s gonna be a steamy one.

Sex: So hot right now

What we’re getting at is that it’s about to be the horniest summer ever. Make that, “hot vax summer.” The “whoring twenties.” It’s not even April yet and people are already getting kicked out of restaurants for doing it in the bathroom. And after months of hearing you talk about sweatpants, the brands and the media are just as horny as you are. As evidenced by the Suit Supply ad you see above, there’s been a big spike of sexy pics in ads, and when people are making out in them, there’s an average 165% increase in click-through. Even Ross Douthat, the Times’ token conservative, just published an op-ed being like, “what if people fucked in movies?” So yeah, it’s not just you.

Stay safe out there

Some news while you prep your date outfit: Tinder is about to roll out background checks. Thanks to a partnership with an organization called Garbo, they’ll soon let users pull up “public records and reports of violence or abuse” on their matches. The feature hasn’t rolled out yet, so it’s not clear where it falls on the line between protection and discrimination (we do know that they won’t cite things like drug charges, which aren’t linked to gender-based violence). It’s also a paid feature, which suggests that 1. safety is a privilege and 2. women should shoulder the burden of their own vulnerability. But like yes thank you for trying.

One last hurrah $

Before you hit the road full tilt, savor home with an eight-in-one pan from Our Place. It’s a skillet, a steamer, a colander, and more or less whatever else you want it to be— and right now it’s in stock after selling out repeatedly. Get saucy and get yours here.

Not to say that your pans can’t be part of your dates.
