Thanks to a partnership with an organization called Garbo, they’ll soon let users pull up “public records and reports of violence or abuse” on their matches. The feature hasn’t rolled out yet, so it’s not clear where it falls on the line between protection and discrimination (we do know that they won’t cite things like drug charges, which aren’t linked to gender-based violence). It’s also a paid feature, which suggests that 1. safety is a privilege and 2. women should shoulder the burden of their own vulnerability. But like yes thank you for trying.
