In the wake of a tremendous season finale, you’ve probably seen that Pusha T has remixed the Succession theme, so now you have an excuse to listen to it as a song. To be honest, though, he hasn’t really done the music justice; he just recites a slow roll of broad, thematic words over it, which end up reading like a corporate Madlib: “Family, fortune, envy, jealousy, privilege, passed on legacy, secret, sabotage, borderline felony, suicide, subtract, selfish, pedigree.” Like, did you actually watch the show or did you just read a brief? Whatever. The music will continue to be memed, and largely by people who’ve paid more attention. Maybe those people are you? Listen here and get inspired to do better.

Wanna talk about power?
The unicorns have a virus. The myth of WeWork is over, Uber’s IPO tanked, and Lyft followed right along. Of course, the common theme here is companies spending all their venture capital to grow and inflate their valuations instead of figuring out how to make money. But in the wake of this string of failures, there’s a new trend called “actually turning a profit.” Investors are now looking at gross margins (!) and turning toward businesses with tangible money-making models. You almost want to call it… shhhh… (accountability).
Exercise bikes, though
Even after a lame IPO, you know who’s going to make a profit if it kills them? Peloton. The company recently announced that they would stop selling their $2,o00+ exercise bikes to multi-unit residential buildings for use in their gyms or common space, because why would you let rich people share things when they could buy their own? I’m not going to claim to know anything about their executives’ personal lives, but it really sounds like SOMEBODY skipped kindergarten.*
*Which raises the question, do they teach sharing at those WeGrow schools?
Is your business trying to make money? $
Take a look at Wethos, a company that deploys on-demand marketing and creative teams to help brands get more done (surfaced to me by a Lorem reader, Anjelica, who works there). From their network of 4,000+ vetted freelancers, they hand-pick teams to make your website, plan and execute social strategy, set up fundraising campaigns, guide a re-brand… anything you don’t have the time or people to do. Because they’re friends, they’re offering all of you a free strategy session and a $750 credit towards any team booked by Oct 31. Does your workplace need extra hands? Fill out the form here to learn more.
What’s that you say? Unicorns aren’t real?
