Looking for something hot and sweaty and dark? This new drop from NEZ (and DUCKWRTH and Saint Bodhi) is very much the club track that you would hear out one time before it was co-opted by your boutique cardio-danceboxing teacher, but in the time of Covid, you may keep it to yourself. Enjoy.

MUST. HIT. GYM.
We’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again: places try to open until they realize they’re viral hotspots and then they shutter all over again. In this scenario, the last place you want to be is your just-re-opened gym: You’ve got people breathing hard, debatably wearing masks, and rubbing their bodies all over surfaces before you use them. Gross? Obviously. But maybe that is what you want. For that elite level of gym rat (/refuser of at-home-or-outdoor-exercise), there’s an emerging class of speakeasy gyms whose memberships are surging with exercise exiles who would rather atrophy of Covid than inactivity. If you want to join, it’ll cost you a premium— pickings are slim, after all, and exercisers are many— but what’s money when you could die at any moment?

Of course, the compliant thing is to take your show outside, and that’s exactly what every comedian in Brooklyn is doing, for better or for worse. Jesse David Fox just reported for Vulture on a night-time show in Fort Greene (a much more merciful premise than the noon-time showcase that appeared in Herbert Von King a few weeks ago), and, oof. When your club has no barrier to entry, it turns out, not only does laughter dissipate into the void, but there are plenty of 12-year-old hecklers to interrupt your set. The other side of that coin, though, is the exposure— you get to reach people who didn’t even come here to see you perform! Three cheers for the open air.

Alcohol may not be under prohibition, but plenty of us are consuming too much of it in insolation. Conveniently, Monument is here to help people change their relationship to drinking. Their online platform provides free resources, support groups, and 24/7 access to a community forum, as well as affordable personalized plans that connect you with licensed physicians and behavioral therapists who specialize in changing drinking habits. It’s more affordable than other treatment options, and you can start any time you like, since it’s all online. Check out Monument here to see if it’s right for you.

PS I gave you the wrong link for Thrive Causemetics last week— should have directed you to their mascara (which they’d like to remind you has 7,000 5-star reviews) rather than their homepage. Enjoy.
PPS Blue Door, a newsletter all about positive news, featured Lorem Ipsum in an issue last week. Thanks, guys!
