Cowboy guitar riffs, choral singing and alien synths seem like an odd combination, but they come together nicely on this dusty futurist rock track from BC Camplight. Give it a listen.

Music doing ok
No surprise: In this time of staying inside, musical instruments are going gangbusters. Retailers like Reverb and Guitar Center report “extraordinarily high order volumes” along the lines of what they’d see in the holiday season, and loads of people are tuning into their branded YouTube channels for tutorials on the guitars and drum sets they’ve bought. Meanwhile, production software is booming even bigger: Garageband is seeing “record levels of interest” (and a cagey PR team) and Splice, a sample platform, is seeing a million downloads per day. The big question, then: who is producing the musical equivalent of King Lear?
Raves also giving it a go
Meanwhile, live music will absolutely not be deterred. Berlin is testing its first drive-in raves, where people park in rows in front of a smoke-machined stage, tuning in through their car radios. While nothing can quite match the rush of the beat coursing through your legs as you crash into fellow revelers, DJs are reportedly heartened by people honking and flashing their headlights along to the beat. We’ll take that for now.
Let the smoke come from the smoke machine $
While we’re on new party habits, let’s agree that it is not cute to take a smoke break in your car— or anywhere at all in the time of the ‘rona. On that note, Lucy has created a nicotine gum that’s delivered straight to you (not the late-night bodega) in flavors that actually taste like themselves (wintergreen, pomegranate, cinnamon) and not like nicotine. Keep partying and check them out here.
