Literal demons.

Listen: Nay Tis Not Death by Songs: Ohia

Jason Molina is the ghostly tenor you hear on the albums from Songs: Ohia. Named because he’s from that part of Ohio, he was the only constant member of the band, instead rotating a kind of braintrust of musicians around him to make melancholy blues until his death in 2013. The literature on him says he was chasing away demons with his music, writing prolifically on the road. It shows– these songs are bleak and beautiful and somehow always fresh. Bet you wouldn’t have guessed this particular track is from 1998.

We are all possessed

Catholic priests have reportedly seen a boom in requests for exorcisms of late, some even logging thousands annually. According to The Atlantic, the church takes these requests very seriously, screening individuals to see if they truly are possessed. While only a few make the cut, the majority of the afflicted report some kind of abuse in their past, which exorcising priests acknowledge can create a “major doorway for demons.” You see where we’re going here. Because it is 2018, polls tell us that about half of Americans, Catholic or otherwise, believe in demonic possession, a stat that’s also backed up by the whole Millennial obsession with the occult. As one academic said, “The occult is a substitution for God.” But what happens when you have God and the occult in the same place? Demons. Literal demons.

Foreskin facial– feels very ‘eye-of-newt’

After a big splash in 2015, the foreskin facial is having another moment thanks to rave reviews from the likes of Sandra Bullock and Kate Beckinsale. A serum derived from the progenitor cells of South Korean babies’ foreskins, it helps to generate collagen and elastin, keeping you looking radiant and young. It does need to be inserted via microneedling, which is supposed to be quite painful, but those interested have a two-year waitlist to work up the nerve. Kind of a long wait, but hey, maybe there’s a DIY version.
