Get low

Listen: End of the Road by Noga Erez

All of us outside Tel Aviv have been criminally underexposed to Noga Erez, a pop songstress whose main stylistic cue is swagger. But that’s all changing now that her new album, KIDS, is making some noise with lefty statements on what it means to be Israeli. All year long, Erez has been leaking tracks about endless war, the endurance of Netanyahu, and the promise of mortality, and one of her latest drops is the best. In the “End of the Road” video, Erez struts to a hard beat on a catwalk treadmill, singing, “I don’t know what really, really happens at the end of the road,” observed by a bunch of older Israelis and looking more confident than anyone ought to be on the road to nowhere. It’s about approaching the unknown in peace, not fear, she says. And just like that, you get today’s zen lesson in the form of a political banger. Get into it.

The end of the road for high-rise pants

To completely misappropriate that political sentiment I just left you with, I have to share the news that against all odds, low-rise pants are on their way back. You are not alone in your horror— we all remember the traumas of 2002, which begin but don’t end at the strictures of a body type that supports ass-crack-bearing denim. Only, you know who doesn’t remember what that was like? Gen fucking Z, who are obviously the ones instigating the switch. Bringing us back around to war: those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.

Full steam ahead on bras, however

Counter to pandemic prediction, the Fashion Authorities say that the bra, prematurely pronounced “over” circa summer 2020, is not in fact dead— it’s just becoming more comfortable, and therefore more friendly with the gradually freeing nip. That’s good news for you and better news for the brands who get to sell you a bralette. So empowering!

For contrast, gentlemen, the extent of your fashion discourse appears to be, “pants.”
