On this February Friday, I hope this dark, distorted, DIY track gives you life. From the Texas artist Liv.e (pronounced “Liv”), SirLadyMakemFall kicks around the big questions, like how people across the gender spectrum might perceive Liv.e differently. Is this song a litmus test? Are we being played?! Listen and see.

Are two hydrogens enough?
Water is a perfect substance in that life has literally taken shape around it; plants and animals are made of it; and we continually cycle through it to exist. You can’t help but wonder, though, how can we make it better? The recipients of this year’s Oscars gift bag just experienced one hypothesis in the form of HFactor, a Hydrogen-enhanced water that, once consumed from its inexplicable pouch, “may” increase energy, speed up physical recovery, and reduce inflammation for$37 per 20-oz pack. I see no reason to doubt those claims, primarily because regular water does those things already.
(Yes.)
You don’t have to be invited to the Oscars to celebrate water, though. Evidently the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, which is known as the “Oscars of Water,” has been going down in West Virginia every year since 1990, and its 30th-anniversary bash is happening RIGHT NOW. This appears to be a valid and useful event, particularly in that it names the world’s best tap water every year, either ending or fueling a long-running debate between cities who insist that theirs is the champagne of waters.
By contrast, New York’s first hard-seltzer festival is coming up this spring, and the Eventbrite page asks you to “Round up your #SeltzerSquad” for “tasting 100+ hard seltzer varietals.” No champagne to be found here.
The great equalizer $
Two hydrogens or more, everybody pees. And most everybody buys toilet paper that uses too many resources: fresh-cut trees, chemicals for bleaching, and loads of water. Reel, however, makes toilet paper out of bamboo, which grows super fast with 30% less water than hardwood trees. They ship it to you (for free, with no plastic packaging) either ad hoc as you buy, or on subscription. And every roll you buy helps fund clean sanitation initiatives around the world. If you use the code LOREM, you can get 15% off a single purchase or $10 off your first subscription box. You know what they say, clean nethers, clean conscience.
