Listen: Reading Rainbow!

Let me start your day with a showstopper: Spotify has the Reading Rainbow theme song. Listen, smile, read on. (And for extra credit, ponder how this might affect your next discover playlist.)

#BookTube

Sweet story alert: in the vast world of influencers, there’s a small subset of YouTube stars who talk about books. This being YouTube, their videos are weird and slapstick and feel targeted toward either a younger generation or aliens, but… they’re working. Kids already glued to YouTube are falling in with the book crowd, and taking the convo offline to read. See? The internet’s not all bad.

But one more tick in the ‘internet is bad’ column

Trigger warning for book lovers: there’s a new company called Serial Box that’s making books in the structure of TV shows. Think serialized fiction, where each chapter is an “episode” with a full arc, written by a different author each time and designed to last a reader about 40 minutes, and each book (they come in series) is a season. Unsurprisingly these “serials” come in digital form, and you can buy freestanding chapters, get a season pass, or buy a full serial via app, browser, or download. The story is bound into a book only after the season is done. Has anyone read one of these, and would you do it again?

Going on vacation, need book recs

Send your faves my way. On that note, no Lorem next week or the following Monday.
